April 9th, I wake up to this:
The backyard is covered in a small layer of snow. This was quite the shock to the system so early in the morning, especially before the coffee enters the bloodstream. My hopes of hitting the trail were quashed before the day even really began.
The sun was shining. Temperatures rose every so slightly. Needless to say, the snow didn't stick around for long. After being cooped up in the house, my son and I made the short trip to the local preserve for a pre-dinner hike.
This was exactly what we both needed today. Sunshine, fresh (chilly) air, and dry trails. Best way to spend a half hour.
