Recently, REI made the push for folks to get outdoors on Black Friday. While I applaud the outdoor retailer for the initiative, I don't need a hashtag reminder to get myself outdoors. It was definitely a great move by the brand, and fun to see how others spend time in the woods. Most people like to stand in line for "deals" on this day, but luckily there are quite a few like our family who like to spend time outside.
East Fork State Park is my go to place for getting outside. It's amazing that for as many times that I have been there, there are still places there that I haven't seen. Case in point was today. After hiking along a section of the Buckeye Trail, we followed a closed park road to one of the water level towers. To the side was a worn path that dropped down to a view of the lake in the picture above. Not a bad place at all.
After hanging out at the lake, we retraced our steps back to the car, totaling an hour outside on Black Friday. An hour outside beats an hour standing in line any day, regardless if it's Black Friday or not. Spend some time outdoors with the ones you love!
