With the temperatures hovering in the low 50's, East Fork's single track is perfect this time of year. Even with the deluge of rain yesterday, the trail was nice and dry, thanks to the heavy layer of leaves covering the trail. Pair dry trails with a pleasant temperature and that combination creates the perfect evening.
Riding along the shoreline has been a welcome addition to my cycling experience. It is amazing how much new cycling areas are open to exploration thanks to the fat tires. Today's jaunt was somewhat eerie however, due to the numerous fish skeletons littering the shoreline. This was from the lake's recent oxygen turnover. In a nutshell, this is when cooler water from the bottom meets warmer water from the top of the lake, and the switch happens too fast, essentially depleting the oxygen levels and killing off a large amount of fish in the process. Nature is pretty fascinating.
Go take advantage of the cooler temperatures, and empty trails!
